THE LOCAL AREA

Living in Weybridge

Bounded to the north by the River Thames, the quintessential town of Weybridge offers easy access to all that London has to offer, while being surrounded by the beautiful Surrey countryside. Being so close to the river, why not take in the sights and history of London on a River Thames cruise. Glide past iconic and historical landmarks and buildings, including Kew Gardens, Hampton Court and Westminster.

Weybridge has also long been associated with aviation and motoring. Brooklands Museum is on the site of the world’s first purpose-built motor racing circuit, opened in 1907, and one of Britain’s first airfields. Brooklands is also the home of Concorde. If you’re interested in motoring and/or aviation, it’s really not one to be missed. For the keen golfers among you, there’s St George‘s Hill Golf Club. Open to both visitors and members, it celebrated its centenary in 2012–13. Another long-standing club, Weybridge Cricket Club was established in 1924. It is happy to welcome spectators and organises social events throughout the year, from dances to quiz nights.

The nearby Kingston upon Thames is easily accessible and is an excellent shopping hub. The bright and beautifully designed shopping centre hosts 75 stores and an array of eateries. For those who love the great outdoors, Kingston is also home to Bushy Park. The second largest of the capital’s eight Royal Parks, it boasts a spectacular mix of waterways, gardens and grasslands, and even has roaming herds of red and fallow deer.
