Success at the prestigious Housebuilder Awards 2013
08 November 2013
We were pleased to be presented with two ‘highly commended’ awards at the Housebuilder Awards 2013, which was held at the Tower Hotel in London last night.
Our forthcoming Poole development, designed by Glenn Howells Architects was ‘highly commended’ in the category Best Design (for over four storeys or more). The design reflects a modern interpretation of Art Deco style and celebrates Poole’s coastal heritage, as well as local and regional architecture.
Our second success came in the Best Marketing Initiative category, which was for the competition we ran in partnership with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) which was also ‘highly commended’ on the night. This high profile competition aimed to seek out creative architects who could further innovate the design of housing aimed specifically at those over 60. The winning design, titled ‘Inside Out, Outside In’ by Tom Russell Associates tackled the concept that challenged the pre-conceptions around housing for people in their later years.
These awards show how we are further raising the quality and improving the design of later life housing and, as a result, delivering new types of retirement housing for a changing demographic. It’s fantastic to receive recognition for our innovative approach and I’m grateful to everyone at McCarthy & Stone and our wider team of associates who have helped design such superb schemes.
