It’s an easy and stress free life at Lantern Court

Margaret Blundell - Life at Retirement Living development Lantern Court

Having decided to downsize to Lantern Court I was finally able to get rid of the rarely used car. I felt confident to do this because Ilfracombe is a ‘walker friendly’ town so moving ‘down’ the road simply meant a shorter distance to walk to the High Street, Theatre, Harbour and the other numerous attractions the town has to offer.

Ilfracombe enjoys two regular bus services to Barnstaple. Lantern Court is on one bus route which also drops off at a large supermarket on the outskirts of Ilfracombe and North Devon District hospital. The other goes via Braunton and drops off at the railway Station.  From the railway station I can access all the major towns and cities across the country so visiting family and friends is easy and stress free and indeed travelling to various airports is also relatively straightforward.

We’re also well served by National Express which connects us to a variety of towns and cities across the country and ends at Heaththrow airport.

The Ilfracombe Community Transport Association has a fleet of four vehicles that offer a variety of services for older people and people with disabilities. These include regular Ring and Ride trips to Barnstaple, theatre outings (door to door), visits to the various medical facilities and also community outings throughout the West Country and occasionally to other seaside resorts. The development also has a handy mobility scooter store as there are many users in town.

A few words to sum up life at Lantern Court without a car? Easy and stress free.
