It’s official – holidays are good for you

29 August 2013

If you had any doubt that holidays were good for you, it’s now official – holidays boost your mental and physical health.

In a six month experiment conducted by Nuffield Health and  tour operator Kuoni, a group of people were given a thorough health check. Half were sent off on an exotic holiday and checked again on their return. Compared with the non-travel group, the holiday-makers showed improved blood pressure, sleep quality and better ability to withstand stress. And the effects lasted for months.

So the moral of this story is, treat yourself and pay your local travel agent a visit and plan your next holiday.

Or you could enter our competition to win a holiday worth £3,000 with the RHS Garden Holidays. Be quick as the closing date is 31st August 2013.

Wendy Knee “I totally agree and so with that in mind I am going to Greece to visit friends who are joining up to celebrate a 60th birthday. I find volunteering abroad also restores body and mind and by helping others you can afford to go for a longer period of time - I'm off to Uganda for the month of November. My blood pressure is balancing itself out just thinking about it.”
