Do you have a ‘want to do list’ for when you retire?

09 August 2012

Backpacking around the world, starting a business, learning a language and playing the ukulele are just some of things topping the over 60s ‘want to do list’ according to a recent OnePoll survey by McCarthy & Stone.

Over 75% of people surveyed thought it important to have a ‘want to do list’ in retirement, with 45% agreeing 60-64 is the ideal age to retire. And while an eight man bobsleigh topped one respondent’s wish list, the majority agreed that the things they are looking forward to most in later life are spending more time in the garden (56%), more time with family (54%) and more time going on holiday (52%).

When it came to their peers, the over 60s deemed Dame Judy Dench (88%) and Michael Palin (79%) the best examples of those striving to make a greater life out of later life.
