A Thoroughly Modern Move
12 June 2013
After 25 happy years spent in the former family home, the decision to downsize was never going to be an easy one, but for Diane and John Nottingham of East Grinstead it was something they both agreed might give them an easier life.
The couple decided to make the move after Mr Nottingham’s ailing health forced them to reconsider their living situation. Whilst at first they looked into moving to a bungalow, it was Mrs Nottingham’s dream of one day living in a new-build property that eventually swayed their choice to buy at The Fallows.
“John was quite keen on a bungalow initially, but the idea of moving from one high-maintenance older home into another just didn’t appeal to me.”
Mrs Nottingham said.
“The Fallows is just so stylish and modern - it’s very ‘me’. I could see immediately that this sleek new apartment with its wooden floors would be easy for me to look after, giving us more quality time to spend with each other.“ The open-plan nature of the apartment gives us a great feeling of space and light. Although I was unsure about the joint kitchen and living space in the beginning, being able to have guests relaxing and chatting in the same room while I’m standing nearby cooking, is just so sociable. I now understand what they say about people always being in the kitchen at parties – I love it!”
Mr & Mrs Nottingham moved into their new home in January of this year, and since their move, the couple have received many complements from friends and family, all of whom agree that the move was the best thing for both of them. “Everyone says how fabulous it is. Our friends and family are thrilled to bits that we have found somewhere so lovely to move to, and are delighted that we are now relaxing into our new life here. Even our daughter, who is in her 30s, loves it so much that she has said she’d move in tomorrow if she could. It makes me feel very proud.
The Fallows is a development of just 23 two-bedroom apartments and is set within landscaped gardens just a short distance from the ancient market town of East Grinstead. Each apartment features underfloor heating powered by air sourced heat pumps, solid Silestone kitchen worktops and a range of mod cons, including electrical connections suited to state-of-the-art multi-room audio systems, Sky and TV distribution. In selected apartments, full height patio doors lead to walk-on or French balconies.
Plus, storage is taken care of, with built-in wardrobes in the bedrooms, and an extra storage facility included in the basement for every apartment.
