McCarthy and Stone, the housebuilder behind the new Augustus House Retirement Living Plus development in Virginia Water, has donated £5,000 to Runnymede Borough Council to fund the purchase of trees which have been planted at the entrance to Virginia Water Memorial Car Park on Station Parade.

To commemorate the planting of the Fagus Sylvatica Dawyck Gold trees, and McCarthy and Stone’s role in helping to improve the appearance of the car park, Runnymede Borough Council has installed a plaque in the car park.

McCarthy and Stone’s Customer Support Executive, Cheryl Ball, visited the site with Councillor Nick Wase-Rogers to unveil the plaque and to take a closer look at the new landscaping at Virginia Water Memorial Car Park – where construction is about to start for a new Remembrance Day memorial.

Councillor Nick Wase-Rogers said: “We would like to thank McCarthy and Stone for its generous donation of £5,000, which has enabled us to introduce Fagus Sylvatica Dawyck Gold trees to Virginia Water Memorial Car Park. More commonly known as Golden Upright Beech Trees, I am sure the stunning greenery will be enjoyed by the people of Virginia Water for many years to come.”

Cheryl Ball from McCarthy and Stone added: “As a company, we appreciate our responsibilities go further than building quality retirement apartments, and we also seek to create a positive legacy in the communities in which we build.

“Virginia Water Memorial Car Park is an invaluable community facility, to both residents and visitors of the town - helping to support the parade of nearby shops and businesses by attracting shoppers. We wanted to show our support and help to further improve the site, so we’re pleased our donation has gone towards the beautiful Fagus Sylvatica Dawyck Gold trees that line the entrance of the car park.
