From 11am until 1pm, members of the public are welcome to visit the development and meet Fred Dinenage – a television stalwart best known for his long stint as news anchor on ITV Meridian, and for presenting a host of other shows. At 11am, there will be an insightful talk from the VIP guest about his successful television career and everyone will be treated to light refreshments in the club lounge.

Fred commented: “I’m very much looking forward to visiting The Boathouse and spending time with the residents of Southampton. I will be taking a tour of the new McCarthy and Stone development, and I hope local people will join me at the grand opening as it is set to be a great day.”

Nicki Beswarick, Divisional Marketing Manager for McCarthy and Stone, commented: “We hope local retirees and their families will be encouraged to attend our event on Tuesday 21st May.  They will be able to see first-hand our luxurious Retirement Living apartments, while also taking the opportunity to chat to everyone’s favourite news anchor, Fred Dinenage.

“The development has already attracted a great amount of interest and is now over 60% sold. We look forward to opening our doors and showcasing everything The Boathouse has to offer retirees.”

Comprising a selection of one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments, exclusively for people aged 60 and over, The Boathouse offers retirees the opportunity to maintain an independent lifestyle.

The development features a club lounge, ideal for socialising with friends, landscaped gardens, and a convenient guest suite should homeowners have friends or family to stay. Additional benefits include an experienced House Manager who oversees the day to day running of The Boathouse and 24-hour emergency call systems for added peace-of-mind.

The Boathouse is set within a small but thriving community.  Local amenities are can be found directly opposite the development on Bitterne Park Triangle where there is a local bakers, supermarket, dry cleaners, various takeaways and convenience stores.  There is also a bus stop directly outside, providing regular services to Southampton city centre and neighbouring areas such as St Denys, Bitterne, Ports wood and Eastleigh.
