Stover Court comes into bloom with Chris Beardshaw
11 March 2014
Celebrity gardener Chris Beardshaw was guest of honour at McCarthy & Stone’s Stover Court development last week as he visited residents and got his hands dirty in their communal garden.
Chris spent the afternoon at the development, which is located on East Street in Newton Abbot, and took part in a special tree planting ceremony, as well as speaking to residents and signing copies of his book ‘100 plants that almost changed the world.’
Jacqui Meenan, sales and marketing director for McCarthy & Stone, explains: “We’re thrilled that Chris was able to visit Stover Court and help commemorate the development’s garden area by planting a special tree that all our homeowners can now enjoy for years to come.
“Despite no longer keeping their own gardens, many of our homeowners are still green fingered and like to keep their hands-in by creating their own potted creations, or enjoying the beautiful landscapes here at the development. It was wonderful that Chris was able to join us and offer tips to our residents and visitors on how to stay green fingered in later life.”
Chris Beardshaw helped create an award winning garden for McCarthy & Stone at last year’s RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. The garden was designed to help challenge pre-conceptions of later life whilst honouring the experiences and knowledge of the UK’s growing aging population.
McCarthy & Stone is currently selling 47 one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments exclusively for the over 55s at Stover Court. Prices start from £169,950 for a one bedroom apartment and £249,950 for a two bedroom apartment.
The design of Stover Court incorporates the preservation of three of the original buildings including the former hospital lift shaft. Two have been restored and converted into the homeowners' lounge, guest suite and laundry room. In addition, this stunning development has been traditionally designed using a range of natural high quality materials and locally sourced reclaimed stone. Next to the homeowner’s lounge is the garden which is set within a courtyard, where a herb garden and patio area provide a pleasant setting from which to enjoy.
Retirement Living developments offer the independence of retaining home ownership while living in an apartment specifically designed for later life. A dedicated house manager ensures the smooth running of the development and a security entrance system plus 24-hour emergency call points provide peace of mind for both homeowners and their families. All properties are low maintenance and energy efficient.
In addition to offering age exclusive apartments, the retirement developer also provides a range of financial services, including a pension annuity service, equity release, legal services and guaranteed funeral plans.
