Squire Court Provides Key To Happy Retirement
16 February 2017
Devonshire couple, Don and Brenda Rhodes, made McCarthy and Stone’s Squire Court development their home in September last year. Since settling into their new Retirement Living apartment, the pair have much more time to focus on enjoying their retirement.
McCarthy and Stone’s Retirement Living developments are carefully designed to offer homeowners the very best in independent living within a safe and secure environment, with the opportunity to benefit from companionship when desired, as well as privacy when needed.
Like many other retirees, Don and Brenda decided it was time to downsize when the upkeep of their family home started to become too much trouble. Commenting on their decision, Don said: “While our son and daughter both flew the nest many years ago, choosing to live abroad, my wife and I remained in the four-bedroom family home. When taking care of the maintenance of the house – and especially the garden – started to become a real hassle, we decided the time was right to downsize to a low-maintenance two-bedroom apartment. After all, there’s more to life than toiling away doing time-consuming chores!”
Homeowners at Squire Court are able to relax in the homeowners’ lounge, a comfortable communal area ideal for socialising with friends, as well as the development’s beautiful landscaped gardens. Should friends or relatives wish to stay over, a convenient guest suite is available to ensure all visitors enjoy a comfortable rest. Brenda commented: “We were reluctant to downsize at first as we didn’t want to lose our ability to have our son and daughter stay over when they visit us from abroad. Having the guest suite on hand is ideal – it’s luxuriously appointed, as well as easy and affordable to book.”
Situated in the sought-after market town of South Molton with its scenic rural surroundings, Squire Court has offered Don and Brenda the best of both worlds in terms of location. Don added: “We are so lucky to be able to enjoy the calming peace and quiet of a countryside setting, as well as excellent access to the town centre and all of its amenities. One day we could taking in the beauty of the North Devon coastline, and the next we could be browsing the stalls at the Pannier Market. Variety truly is the spice of life.”
It was important to the couple that the location of their new home would offer ample opportunities to enjoy an active social life. Now at the heart of the close-knit community, Brenda explains how there is never a dull moment at Squire Court: “Our House Manager, Maria Stratton, is fantastic at making sure everything at the development is running smoothly, and that everybody is happy, as well as coming up with ideas for fun activities and events. While there is no pressure to get involved, there is always something fun going on. With our new friends at Squire Court, we enjoy a range of pastimes – from playing bridge to brushing up on our watercolour painting skills. Living in a low-maintenance apartment means we have so much more free time to enjoy ourselves.”
Don concluded: “We love living here. Squire Court truly does offer retirees the opportunity to downsize without compromise.”
Exclusively for over 55s, Squire Court comprises an attractive collection of high-specification one and two bedroom apartments, priced from £199,950 and £249,950 respectively.
