Royal links inspire new Wolverhampton development

26 May 2017

The UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, McCarthy and Stone, has announced the launch of its new Lifestyle Living development on Stockwell Road, Tettenhall, which has been named after the clock tower which was built to commemorate the coronation of King George V.

In 1911, local landowners Mr and Mrs Edward Swindley donated Tettenhall’s landmark clock tower on Upper Green, which was a substantial reminder of the coronation of King George V. They were so pleased with the clock that they had a replica built in the garden of their house, which became known as the Clock House. Taking its inspiration from such a renowned royal theme, McCarthy and Stone’s new Tettenhall development has been named Clock Gardens and the replica clock will take pride of place in the development gardens.

Robert Monkman, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone West Midlands, said: “We wanted to choose a name for our new development that was memorable, and would resonate with both Tettenhall residents and future McCarthy and Stone homeowners. Our chosen name, Clock Gardens, will serve as a celebration of the popular landmark and commemorate King George V – a topic future homeowners will be extremely interested in.

“With the first release of one and two bedroom Lifestyle Living apartments at Clock Gardens so highly anticipated, we are delighted to be hosting an exclusive launch event in September. Local retirees interested in securing a high specification, low maintenance home are encouraged to come along and make the most of their first opportunity to reserve off-plan at this stunning new development.”

McCarthy and Stone’s Lifestyle Living developments are exclusively designed for over-55s.  Offering homeowners total piece of mind, the Management Scheme service includes 24-hour fire and security monitoring, building insurance, security lighting and maintenance for the communal areas, window cleaning and grounds maintenance.

Currently under construction, an artist’s impression has been released to show how Clock Gardens will look when completed. Located in the village of Tettenhall, the development will provide 22 contemporary age-exclusive apartments, professionally-designed to offer space and luxury. Clock Gardens is ideally situated for easy access to all local amenities in Tettenhall and public transport links to locations further afield.
