Retirement in bloom at Parkland Place

19 February 2018

The arrival of spring was celebrated at McCarthy and Stone’s Retirement Living development in Biggleswade, Parkland Place, when homeowners and staff became florists for the day at a masterclass led by Grant Gould from Butler-Gould Designs.

The homeowners’ lounge at the development on Shortmead Street was at its blooming best, as everyone took part in a flower arranging workshop. All those who attended the event had the opportunity to put together a bouquet full of their favourite flowers, under the expert eye of visiting Florist Grant Gould, who shared their passion for all things floral as well as the benefit of their six years of experience.

Everyone also enjoyed a selection of tea and nibbles, while they took the time to admire each-others’ seasonal arrangements; and one lucky attendee won two tickets to RHS Wisley’s “Butterflies in the Glasshouse”, which has been sponsored by McCarthy and Stone.

Debbie Isaacs, House Manager at Parkland Place, said: “With the dark days of winter behind us, it was wonderful to get everyone at Parkland Place together for a very spring-like celebration – and a reminder that the gardens here will soon be busting full of buds, blossoms and blooms.

“We certainly have a lot of talented homeowners here – the hand-tied bouquets were rather spectacular – and the many green-fingered retirees at Parkland Place made the most of the opportunity to learn a new skill in floristry, just in time for spring!”

Parkland Place is comprised of 46 one and two-bedroom Retirement Living apartments, and three two-bedroom cottages, exclusively designed for those aged 60 and over. Representing a new and highly exclusive proposition for prospective McCarthy and Stone homeowners, the two bedroom cottages at Parkland Place are ideal for retirees who are looking for a little extra space and privacy.  Each of the elegantly-finished cottages comprise thoughtfully-designed living accommodation across two floors.

Facilities at the Parkland Place Retirement Living apartments include a stunning Club Lounge, ideal for socialising with friends, and a convenient guest suite should homeowners have friends or relatives to stay.  A dedicated House Manager takes care of the day-to-day running of the development; and there are no maintenance worries, with all external and communal areas taken care of by McCarthy and Stone’s expert team.

Nestled in the market town of Biggleswade, Parkland Place boasts a desirable location opposite the River Ivel, with easy transport links to Peterborough, Stevenage, and London’s King Cross.

More than nine out of ten customers would recommend McCarthy and Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 12 years’ running.  McCarthy and Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade, which is every year the awards have been run.
