Retirement development in Maidenhead honours Sir Edward William Elgar

10 November 2017

The UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, McCarthy and Stone, has announced the name of its new Retirement Living development on Bridge Avenue in Maidenhead, Elgar Place, named in honour of English composer, Sir Edward William Elgar.

Sir Edward William Elgar, the renowned composer, whose work entered the British and International classical concert repertoire, was a regular visitor to Berkshire and often resided in Maidenhead where he conducted, performed and taught locally.

Georgina Akers, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone South East, said: “Sir Edward William Elgar played a significant part in English history for his contribution to classical music. Having visited Maidenhead on a number of occasions, where he composed, conducted and taught in the area, we thought naming our new development Elgar Place would be a fitting tribute.”

“McCarthy and Stone has already established a presence in Maidenhead and we are looking forward to building on the success of our Swift House Retirement Living Plus development with our new Elgar Place development.  We believe this latest prestigious development will play a real part in helping to bring friends and family together in later life – something we feel is incredibly important and will continue to bring many positive benefits to the area.”

Comprising a selection of 38 one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments, exclusively designed for people aged 60 and over, Elgar Place provides everything homeowners could want for a relaxing retirement.  All those who make the development their home can enjoy an active, independent lifestyle, with the opportunity to benefit from companionship when desired and privacy when needed.

Once complete, features at the new development will include a stunning club lounge, ideal for socialising with friends, a patio terrace in which to relax, plus a comfortable guest suite should homeowners have friends or relatives to stay.  A dedicated Concierge will take care of the day-to-day running of the development; while a secure entry system and 24-hour emergency call points will provide added peace-of-mind.

Set in a prominent location, Elgar Place is in close proximity to a fantastic range of local amenities, including a Sainsbury’s supermarket and the local high street, which has an array of cafes and shops.

Retirees are invited to explore the benefits of downsizing at McCarthy and Stone’s age exclusive apartments in Maidenhead at a Discovery Day on Thursday 23rd November. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn on Manor Lane from 11am until 3pm to enjoy light refreshments, with the sales team on hand to answer any questions potential purchasers may have.

More than nine out of ten customers would recommend McCarthy and Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 12 years’ running.  McCarthy and Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 12 years, which is every year the awards have been run.
