Residents to help shape retirement accommodation proposals in Scarborough
06 October 2015
McCarthy and Stone, Britain’s leading developer of retirement apartments, is working closely with Scarborough College in preparing proposals to redevelop the site of the former Bramcote School on Filey Road, Scarborough, to deliver high-quality Assisted Living accommodation.
McCarthy and Stone is committed to engaging with the local community and will be offering residents the opportunity to meet with the project team to discuss the initial plans for the site. Where possible, the views of the local community will be incorporated into the final scheme.
Steve Secker, Regional Managing Director for McCarthy and Stone (North East Region) said:
“Our plans are at an early stage, and we want to work with the local community to develop a scheme with a high-quality design that is in keeping with the surrounding area.
“Our Assisted Living developments enable people to retain their independence, safe in the knowledge that on-site care and support is available if required. We look forward to hearing what local residents and stakeholders have to say as we prepare a planning application.”
Owners of the proposed apartments are typically looking to ease the burden of maintaining a larger property, which should help to release these homes onto the market for local families that wish to remain in the area. In addition to this, there is an identified local need for this form of specialist Assisted Living accommodation in Scarborough.
Arrangements are currently being made to meet local stakeholders and neighbours of the site to give them an opportunity to view the early proposals. This will be followed by a public exhibition for members of the wider community to view the scheme and provide their views.
