Residents to help shape proposals for luxurious, age-exclusive apartments in Stamford Bridge

09 September 2014

McCarthy & Stone, Britain’s leading developer of age-exclusive apartments, is preparing proposals to redevelop the site of the former Grange Nursing Home on Lower Catton Road in Stamford Bridge.

McCarthy & Stone is committed to engaging with the local community on its plans and will be offering residents the opportunity to meet with the project team to discuss its early proposals for the site. Where possible, the views of the local community will be incorporated into the final plans.

Steve Secker, Regional Managing Director for McCarthy & Stone (Northern Region) said:

“Following its closure, the former Grange Nursing Home suffered substantial vandalism and arson, eventually leading to its demolition. Our plans will breathe new life into the vacant site offering stylish apartments that will improve local housing choice and enable local retired people to make the most of their leisure years.”

“Before submitting a planning application to East Riding of Yorkshire Council, we want to hear what the local community think about our proposal to ensure that we can make a positive contribution to Stamford Bridge.”

McCarthy & Stone believes that Stamford Bridge is the ideal location to provide age-exclusive accommodation for retired people who are looking to pursue an active and sociable lifestyle. Occupants of the proposed apartments are typically looking to downsize to a lower-maintenance property, which should help to release larger homes onto the market for families that wish to continue living in the village.

Arrangements are currently being made to hold a public exhibition about the proposals as well as offering individual meetings to local representatives and neighbours of the site.
