Residents’ invited to help shape plans for retirement accommodation in Oakham
18 September 2015
A public exhibition will give local residents the opportunity to view and comment on McCarthy and Stone’s preliminary plans to redevelop the former ‘Lonsdale House’ site, Barleythorpe Road in Oakham.
McCarthy and Stone’s plans seek to redevelop this site with much-needed Retirement Living apartments, specifically designed to meet the needs of local people in later life, together with car parking and professionally landscaped gardens. The sale of the site was arranged through Rigby & Co, a commercial property firm based in Derby, on behalf of Tresham College of Further and Higher Education.
The public exhibition marks the next stage of the community consultation and will be held:
On: Tuesday 29 September 2015
At: Oakham Rugby Club, Showground Way, Off Burley Park Way, Oakham, LE15 7TW Between: 3pm – 7pm
Mark Wright, Regional Managing Director at McCarthy and Stone said:
“We have spent time carefully researching the architecture and character of the local area, and our proposals feature a traditional design. We’ve worked hard to make sure our proposal for the site feels like it belongs to Oakham.”
“We want to hear from the local community and our future home-owners before we submit a planning application. We will be displaying our plans at a public exhibition and our project team will be there to answer questions and listen to feedback on what we have done so far. The comments we receive will help us tailor our proposal into something people will want to see, enjoy and call home.”
Russell Rigby, of the agents for the site, Rigby and Co, said:
“We are very pleased to have successfully sold this site to McCarthy and Stone and we are particularly grateful for the speedy and straight forward way all matters were concluded within a short timescale. It was a delight working with McCarthy and Stone - we wish them well with their planning application and hope to work with them again in the near future”.
McCarthy and Stone are renowned for the quality of their developments that give their homeowners the time and opportunity to do things they’ve always wanted to do. The apartments allow people in later life to retain their independence, close to their family and friends, in a home suited specifically for their customers’ needs.
