Residents invited to help shape plans for retirement accommodation in Longridge

12 September 2014

Local residents have an opportunity to help shape new homes in Longridge, as McCarthy & Stone reveal proposals to redevelop land on Barnacre Road, Longridge, to deliver high-quality Retirement Living accommodation comprising a mix of one and two bedroom apartments together with on-site parking spaces and attractive landscaped gardens.

McCarthy & Stone believe that not only will their proposals offer much needed retirement housing locally, but also free up existing family houses as older homeowners look to relocate to more suitable accommodation which in turn will minimise the need to develop on open space.

McCarthy & Stone, Britain’s leading provider of retirement accommodation has a wealth of experience in delivering homes that are specifically designed to meet the needs of people in later life. Recognising that getting older can present new challenges, McCarthy & Stone’s Retirement Living schemes enable people to retain the independence and privacy of their own home with the opportunity to enjoy the company of others through the use of communal facilities including a homeowners’ lounge and professionally landscaped gardens as well as offering step-free access throughout.

Local residents are invited to view McCarthy & Stone’s early proposals at a public exhibition on:

Tuesday 23rd September between 3pm and 7pm

at Longridge British Legion, 9 Towneley Rd, Longridge, PR3 3EA

Steve Secker, Regional Managing Director for McCarthy & Stone (Northern Region) said;

“We have already spent time carefully researching local architecture to ensure that the proposed development is acceptable and sympathetic to its surroundings but now we want to hear the views of the local community.

“Members of our project team will be on hand at the public exhibition to answer questions and listen to feedback. The proposals are at a very early stage and where possible we will amend our plans to reflect people’s comments.”

McCarthy & Stone is committed to engaging with the local community ahead of submitting a planning application. If you aren’t able to attend the public exhibition or would like further information, McCarthy & Stone has provided a freephone information line for you to call (0800 298 7040) and have set up a website covering their initial proposals which can be found at www.mccarthyandstone-consultation.co.uk/longridge.
