Residents’ invited to help shape plans for retirement accommodation in Ashby

A public exhibition will give local residents the opportunity to view and comment on McCarthy & Stone’s preliminary plans to redevelop the former County Council site, Kilwardby Street, Ashby.

McCarthy & Stone’s plans seek to redevelop this vacant Brownfield site with approximately 32 high-quality Retirement Living apartments, specifically designed to meet the needs of local people in later life, together with car parking and professionally landscaped gardens.

The public exhibition marks the next stage of the community consultation and will be held:

On: Monday 7 July 2014

At: Hood Park Leisure Centre, North Street, Ashby de la Zouch, LE65 1HU

Between: 3pm – 7pm

The proposal site is ideally located for older person’s accommodation, being within close walking distance to local shops and services. McCarthy & Stone believes the redevelopment of the site offers an important opportunity to provide much needed Retirement Living apartments, increasing the housing choice for local older people.

Darren Humphreys, Regional Managing Director at McCarthy & Stone said:

“We have spent time carefully researching the architecture and character of the local area, and our proposals feature a traditional design. We’ve worked hard to make sure our proposal for the site feels like it belongs to Ashby.

He continued: “We want to hear from the local community and our future home-owners before we submit a planning application. We will be displaying our plans at a public exhibition and our project team will be there to answer questions and listen to feedback on what we have done so far. The comments we receive will help us tailor our proposal into something people will want to see, enjoy and call home.”

McCarthy & Stone is renowned for the quality of its developments that give homeowners the time and opportunity to do things they’ve always wanted to do. The apartments allow people in later life to retain their independence, close to their family and friends, in their own home suited specifically for customers’ needs, in a safe and enjoyable environment.
