Residents are invited to help shape retirement proposals for land at MGM House, Worthing

10 December 2014

Local residents will have an opportunity to meet the project team and comment on plans for new homes in Worthing as McCarthy & Stone reveals proposals to redevelop land at MGM House, Worthing, with high-quality apartments, specifically designed to meet the needs of people in later life.

McCarthy & Stone recognise that getting older can present challenges, but their experience ensures they are able to provide the support, services and aspirations to help their residents live happier, healthier and longer lives.

McCarthy & Stone will share their proposals with local residents at a public exhibition on Wednesday 17th December 2014, at the Heene Community Centre, Main Hall, 122 Heene Road, Worthing, BN11 4PL, between 3.30pm and 7pm.

These unique proposals also offer an element of much-needed Assisted Living (Extra Care) accommodation as well affordable housing. The number of older people in Adur and Worthing is far higher than the national average, demonstrating the need for specialist homes for local older people. *

A representative of McCarthy & Stone said:

“The site presents a unique opportunity to deliver much-needed retirement housing for older people in Worthing, but we need to ensure that what we build is what our customers, as well as the local community, would like to see in Worthing.

“Our understanding of the local housing market has helped inform the nature of the proposals and we consider that our proposed apartments will add a further dimension to the range of homes already available.

“To ensure the local community has been kept informed of the proposals, McCarthy & Stone held a series of individual meetings with immediate residents and stakeholders at the Kingsway Hotel. It was a good opportunity to ask questions about the proposed development on a one to one basis.”

He continued: “Our project team will be at the forthcoming exhibition to answer questions and listen to feedback on what we’ve done so far. The comments we receive will help us tailor our proposals into something people will want to see, enjoy and call home.”

McCarthy & Stone are renowned for the quality of their developments that give their homeowners the time and opportunity to do things they’ve always wanted to do. The apartments allow people in later life to retain their independence, close to their family and friends, in a home suited specifically for their customer’s needs, in a safe and enjoyable environment.

If you are not able to attend the public exhibition or would like further information, McCarthy & Stone has provided a dedicated freephone information line for you to call (0800 298 7040) and have set up a website covering their initial proposals which can be found at
