Scottish news - Purpose built retirement living is coming to St. Andrews
23 May 2012
The UK’s market leader in retirement living, McCarthy & Stone is delighted to announce that its first-ever Retirement Living development in the coastal town of St Andrews is coming soon.
The development will consist of 44 one and two bedroom apartments and is located on Abbey Walk on the eastern edge of St Andrews charming town-centre. Construction is scheduled to begin in August 2012.
Retirement specialist McCarthy & Stone prides itself on creating retirement developments that offer independence combined with the peace of mind of additional security, low maintenance and companionship.
The new development on Abbey Walk will offer a range of features which are tailored to the needs of older people with on-site facilities such as a laundry-room, a central lounge for recreation and social events, a lift and a hotel-style guest suite for friends and family who wish to visit. Plus, for added peace of mind there’s a 24-hour personal emergency service, as well as a TV security-system monitoring the main entrance. A house manager is responsible for daily management of gardeners, window-cleaners and maintenance staff, as well as helping to organise social events with the residents.
Suzanne McElhiney, marketing manager for McCarthy & Stone in Scotland, said: "We are delighted to be bringing the McCarthy & Stone name to this part of Fife and in particular St Andrews. We bring with us 30 years of experience in the design, construction and management of private retirement housing.
"Plus our new ‘Moving Experience package will be available at the launch of the Abbey Walk development when sales open in January 2013 for first occupations in July 2013.
"This service offers buyers a highly personalised service through a dedicated Professional Advisor. Our advisor initially meets a customer to discuss their requirements - offering an unrivalled level of service and assistance to help buyers get on the move.
"The advisors can help customers to sell a current property – even making all of the arrangements on their behalf with estate agents and paying the bill; plus there’s assistance with legal advice where advisors can help to instruct, correspond and liaise with a customer’s lawyer plus we’ll also pay legal fees through this service. The advisor can also arrange an IFA to offer the customer independent financial advice and carry out a confidential health-check to make sure they’re making the most of their finances and receiving every benefit they are entitled to.
"And if the thought of all that packing and unpacking feels like the final straw – the advisor will arrange a free de-cluttering, packing and removals service that even ensures our team removes the packing boxes to leave purchasers to simply get on with enjoying their new apartment!
"It’s the ultimate moving package to give customers the confidence and the ability to make that move to a new home."
