New Bradford Retirement Living Plus development visited by MP

04 June 2019

The MP for Bedford and Kempston, Mohammad Yasin, donned a hard hat to help lay the building blocks of McCarthy and Stone’s new Oakhill Place Retirement Living Plus development on Overdale.

The VIP guest joined McCarthy and Stone’s Area Sales Manager, Chad Goldsmith, Senior Site Manager, Pat Daly and Site Manager David Flanagan to take a closer look at development plans and lay a date brick to mark the start of construction.

Located in Bedford, Oakhill Place will comprise of a stylish collection of one and two bedroom privately-owned Retirement Living Plus apartments exclusively designed for the over 70s.  Apartments will be available to reserve off plan in June 2019, with first occupations expected October 2019.

Mohammad Yasin MP commented: “It was a pleasure to visit the site of McCarthy and Stone’s new development in Bedford, and to mark the start of construction there. It was a good opportunity to meet the site team and hear about the housebuilder’s plans to help meet the needs of retirees in Bedford and the surrounding areas.”

McCarthy and Stone’s Retirement Living Plus developments offer retirees the opportunity to maintain an independent lifestyle, while also having access to tailored domestic and personal assistance packages to help them manage their day-to-day lives – and with an on-site restaurant providing freshly cooked meals.

Once complete, Oakhill Place will feature a Club Lounge, ideal for socialising with newfound friends; a Guest Suite for when homeowners have visitors to stay; and beautifully maintained gardens.  An Estates Manager will take care of the day-to-day running of the development, while secure entry systems and 24-hour emergency call points will provide added peace-of-mind.

Pat Daly, Senior Site Manager at Oakhill Place, comments: “We are delighted Mohammad Yasin MP was able to take the time to visit our Bedford site.

“McCarthy and Stone is committed to designing flexible homes which allow people to make the most of their retirement years, and to live as independently as possible, with the benefit of having extra support should they need it.  It was great to be able to showcase the plans for some of the fantastic apartments that will eventually be available at Oakhill Place.”

Future homeowners at Oakhill Place will benefit from the development’s close location to a pharmacy, community centre, butcher and delicatessen, all within walking distance. There is a large variety of supermarkets less than a mile away from the future development, and Bedford town centre can be reach by bus in 15 minutes.

More than 90 percent of customers would recommend McCarthy and Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the maximum Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 14 years’ running.  It is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 14 years, which is every year since the awards have been running.
