MP visits new McCarthy & Stone development in Charlton Hayes

25 October 2017

Filton and Bradley Stoke MP, Jack Lopresti, has marked the start of construction at McCarthy and Stone’s forthcoming development in Charlton Hayes, which will provide local retirees with two exclusive options - Retirement Living and Retirement Living PLUS.

Mr Lopresti joined McCarthy and Stone site manager, Adam Growcott, at the Retirement Living development, Hamilton House, to take a tour of the site and to find out more about how the new apartments will help older people to live active, independent lifestyles in their later years.  Construction is set to commence at the neighbouring Retirement Living Plus development, Olympus Court, later this year.

Mr Lopresti commented: “It was a pleasure to visit the site of McCarthy and Stone’s planned new Retirement Living development in Charlton Hayes, and to mark the start of construction there. It was a good opportunity to meet the site manager and hear first-hand about the housebuilder’s latest Retirement Living development which will help to meet the housing needs of retirees in Charlton Hayes and the surrounding areas.”

Simon Mantell, Regional Managing Director at McCarthy and Stone South West, said: “We are delighted Jack Lopresti MP was able to take the time to visit the Charlton Hayes site, and see for himself how this new dual development will benefit the local community. These modern developments demonstrate how McCarthy and Stone is committed to designing flexible homes which allow people to make the most of their retirement years, and to live as independently as possible with the benefit of having a range of amenities right on the doorstep.”

Hamilton House will comprise an exclusive selection of one and two bedroom privately-owned apartments for the over 60s.  Retirement Living offers all the benefits of home ownership, but without any of the maintenance worries, as all external and communal areas are taken care of by McCarthy and Stone’s expert team.

Homeowners will be able to make the most of beautiful landscaped gardens; there will be a homeowners’ lounge, ideal for socialising with new neighbours; and a comfortable guest suite will be available, should friends and family wish to stay over.  A House Manager will also be on hand to take care of the day-to-day running of the development.

The award-winning housebuilder will provide a further collection of one and two bedroom Retirement Living Plus apartments at the neighbouring Olympus Court.  Designed exclusively for the over 70s, Retirement Living Plus developments are ideal for those who require added support. Whether homeowners would like help with chores such as housework or laundry, or just an extra pair of hands, support packages are tailored to individual needs, and a qualified team including an Estates Manager will always be available to help make life easier. A fully equipped bistro-style restaurant will provide freshly prepared meals if homeowners don’t wish to cook in their apartments; and 24-hour emergency call points will be in place for added peace-of-mind for both homeowners and their families.

Plans and prices for Hamilton House will be released this autumn, with the first homeowners expected to be welcomed in summer 2018.  Plans and prices for Olympus Court will be available in summer 2018.

More than nine out of ten customers would recommend McCarthy and Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 12 years’ running.  McCarthy and Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 12 years, which is every year the awards have been run.
