McCarthy and Stone‘s plans for Retirement Living apartments submitted to Isle of Anglesey County Council

22 October 2015

McCarthy and Stone, the UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, has submitted plans to redevelop land on Bangor Road, Benllech, with high-quality, Retirement Living accommodation.

The plans, submitted to Isle of Anglesey County Council, have been specifically designed to meet the needs of older people while offering an attractive design that will complement the surrounding area. If approved, the development will see the site transformed into 35 one and two bedroom apartments complete with 27 on-site car parking spaces and professionally designed landscaped gardens.

McCarthy and Stone carried out consultation with the local community on the proposal including an exhibition to which over 900 residents, businesses and representatives were invited to attend in order to gather feedback. The results of the comments received indicate huge levels of approval for the scheme, with over 90% of respondents expressing support for the plans.

Ian Wilkins, Regional Managing Director at McCarthy and Stone (North West Region) said:

“We have been really encouraged by the huge amount of positive feedback our proposals have received throughout the consultation process and would like to thank the community for their valuable comments. It is clear that local residents are supportive of the plans we have submitted and that there is a real need for this type of specialist housing in Benllech."

“We hope that council members and officers will also see the benefits of the scheme when determining the application which we hope will happen in the next few months.”
