Local residents have an opportunity to shape new homes in Melksham
14 April 2015
Local residents have an opportunity to shape new homes in Melksham as McCarthy and Stone, the UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, reveals proposals to redevelop a site on Spa Road.
McCarthy and Stone is proposing to redevelop the site with approximately 30 high-quality Retirement Living apartments, specifically designed to meet the needs of people in later life, along with 24 car parking spaces and attractive, maintained landscaping for the site’s future residents.
McCarthy and Stone will display its proposals for local residents at a public exhibition on Wednesday 22nd April, between 3pm and 7pm at Melksham Town Hall, Market Place, Melksham, SN12 6ES. The exhibition will be an opportunity for local residents to view the proposals and provide feedback to McCarthy and Stone’s project team, enabling residents to shape proposals where possible.
Shane Paull of McCarthy and Stone commented:
“We have acquired an interest in Withleigh House on Spa Road and are working up proposals for the site’s sensitive redevelopment with high-quality Retirement Living apartments.”
Shane Paull of McCarthy and Stone said:
“We have spent time carefully researching the architecture and character of Melksham to ensure what we are proposing is a sensitive fit to the town and its number of historical buildings, while at the same time introducing a specialist form of housing to help meet an identified, and growing, need in the area.”
“We want to hear from the local community before we submit a planning application and will be displaying our plans at the exhibition. Our project team will be at the exhibition to answer questions and listen to feedback; the comments we receive will help us tailor our proposals where possible.”
McCarthy and Stone is renowned for the quality of their developments that give their homeowners the time and opportunity to do things they have always wanted to do. The apartments allow people in later life to retain their independence, close to their family and friends, in a home suited specifically for their needs, in a safe and enjoyable environment.
If you are not able to attend the public exhibition or would like further information, McCarthy and Stone has provided a dedicated freephone information line for you to call (0800 298 7040) and has set up a website covering their initial proposals which can be found at www.mccarthyandstone-consultation.co.uk/melksham
