McCarthy and Stone makes a positive move with £250 for Pos+Ability

23 February 2018

McCarthy and Stone, the housebuilder behind the Roslyn Court Retirement Living Plus development on Lisle Lane in Ely, has donated £250 to Pos+Ability.

A local charity providing chair-based exercises and personal development programmes for the elderly, Pos+Ability’s classes have been designed to support people who have survived a stroke, or are living with Parkinson’s or Multiple Sclerosis – along with other long term illnesses including neurological illnesses. The charity is not funded by the NHS, and McCarthy and Stone’s donation will go towards covering the costs of instructors, support assistants, equipment, rental costs, insurance, training, and office expenses.

Linda Neate, Chairman, Trustee and Fundraiser for Pos+Ability, comments: “Since we first started this organisation seven years ago with just six clients, it has become increasingly popular and we now run two classes in Ely, one in Littleport, two in Histon and one in Soham, supporting around 85 people.

“Our service is more than just exercise – we aim to give our clients the confidence that one day they will regain their independence; and we are very grateful to McCarthy and Stone for its kind donation, which has given our ongoing fundraising efforts a welcome boost.”

Cheryl Bissett, Regional Sales and Marketing Director at McCarthy and Stone East Midlands, said: “We are delighted to make a donation to Pos+Ability – it is such a worthy local cause. A tight-knit community and companionship are among the many benefits of living in a McCarthy and Stone development, and we are proud to support those who share our values and are helping to make a difference to the lives of older people.”

The Roslyn Court Retirement Living Plus development will welcome its first homeowners this spring and, when complete, will comprise a stylish collection of 58 one and two bedroom privately-owned luxury apartments for the over 70s.

McCarthy and Stone’s Retirement Living Plus developments aim to bridge the gap between conventional Retirement Living and residential care. Retirees are able to retain independence in the form of home ownership, yet still have the peace of mind of a range of additional security and support services. Roslyn Court will feature a high-quality bistro restaurant, a spacious and contemporary homeowners’ lounge, and lifts to assist with access; as well as beautiful landscaped gardens, and a convenient guest suite for when friends and family come to visit.

Roslyn Court will also benefit from its very own Estates Manager, who will take care of the smooth-running of the development; while a security entrance system and 24-hour emergency call points will provide added peace of mind for homeowners and their families.

Roslyn Court is ideally located with easy access to amenities including a Post Office, doctor’s surgery, and a range of convenience stores, supermarkets and restaurants. At over 60% sold, McCarthy and Stone is urging discerning retirees who are interested in downsizing in Ely to reserve without delay, or risk disappointment. Prices currently start from £224,950 for a one bedroom apartment and from £364,950 for a two bedroom apartment.

More than nine out of ten customers would recommend McCarthy and Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 12 years’ running.  McCarthy and Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 12 consecutive years, which is every year the awards have been run.
