McCarthy and Stone breaks ground with George Osborne MP

05 October 2016

George Osborne MP last week visited McCarthy and Stone’s new age exclusive Platinum Range Retirement Living development, which has just started construction in Wilmslow on Holly Road North.

To mark the start of the build, George Osborne MP was invited to a groundbreaking ceremony at the Lawson Grange development. The Tatton MP, donned his hard hat and Hi Vis jacket to officially place the first spade in the ground. During the event Mr Osborne met with McCarthy and Stone’s Regional Managing Director, Ian Wilkins, to discuss plans for the Wilmslow site, as well as the company’s broader commitment to build more exclusive housing options for the over-60s in the North West of England.

George Osborne MP said: “It was a pleasure to mark the start of construction at McCarthy and Stone’s Lawson Grange development. Living independently and securely is incredibly important at any age, and it is great to see developments like this one in our local area, providing more choice for those over 60 who are looking to downsize to a more manageable property. I look forward to seeing the build develop and become part of the neighbourhood.”

Ian Wilkins, Regional Managing Director for McCarthy and Stone North West, commented: “It was a pleasure to welcome George Osborne to our latest development in Wilmslow. I’d like to personally thank him for his time to help us commemorate this exciting new development with an official groundbreaking ceremony.

“The UK has an ageing population and there is currently an undersupply of suitable housing for older people who are looking to downsize to a more manageable home. Our Lawson Grange development in Wilmslow is a prime example of how McCarthy and Stone is designing age-exclusive developments that cater for over-60s who want high-quality and well-located housing to maintain an independent and active lifestyle.”

Lawson Grange on Holly Road North will feature a stylish collection of five one bedroom and 25 two bedroom apartments, designed exclusively for those aged 60 and over. The modern development is part of McCarthy and Stone’s Platinum Range Retirement Living portfolio, which includes homes built to the highest standards and located in some of the most desirable postcodes in the UK. Designed to provide contemporary living for those who favour quality design as well as comfort and convenience, Lawson Grange is expected to be a popular retirement option for house hunters in Cheshire. First completions are scheduled for autumn 2017.
