McCarthy and Stone awaits decision on retirement plans for Settle

McCarthy and Stone, the UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, is awaiting a decision on its proposals for high-quality Retirement Living accommodation on land adjacent to Settle Cricket Club on Kirkgate in Settle.

The plans would provide a mix of 22 one and two-bedroom apartments with a provision of on-site parking spaces set in attractive landscaped gardens. McCarthy and Stone carried out a consultation on its early proposals, including a public exhibition held in May 2015, to which around 1,000 residents, businesses and stakeholders were invited.

McCarthy and Stone understands that getting older can present new challenges, and its Retirement Living developments allow people to retain the independence and privacy of their own home, with the opportunity to enjoy the company of others. The design incorporates natural stone and other materials found in buildings throughout Settle. 

He added; “We hope that members and officers at Craven District Council will recognise the merits of the scheme when determining the application, as we believe there is a need for this type of accommodation in Settle.”

The final decision will rest with members of Craven District Council’s Planning Committee which is anticipated to vote on the application next month.
