McCarthy and Stone has teamed up with well-known Scottish chef Nick Nairn to promote the benefits of healthy eating in retirement, and he’s created some delicious recipes that he will demonstrate live at McCarthy and Stone’s Retirement Living development Templars Court, on the High Street in Linlithgow on Wednesday 27 January, 2016.

The exclusive cookery demonstrations will take place in the luxurious homeowners’ lounge at the development, and each session will showcase a specially selected three course menu.  Nick will also be offering lots of helpful hints and tips on healthy eating in later life whilst showcasing Scotland’s wonderful natural larder and how to use it well.

Demonstrations will be held at 1.00pm and 3.00pm. Spaces are free but limited so please RSVP as soon as possible if you’d like to come along.

Rosemary Giovino, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone, adds:  “We are delighted to continue our association with Nick Nairn, and we’re very excited about our live cookery demonstrations to be held at Templars Court.

“Our aim is to help older people stay independent for longer and really make the most of their retirement, and our association with Nick Nairn reflects this.  He will be offering hints and tips on healthy eating in retirement that can easily be incorporated into daily life.”

Nick Nairn adds:  “I’m really looking forward to visiting McCarthy and Stone at Templars Court in Linlithgow, and to have this opportunity to showcase some simple and effective recipes that will encourage healthy eating in retirement.  As we get older we tend to eat much smaller meals, but it’s still important to eat enough calories in order to give you the energy that you need for the day – whether you’re having a relaxing day at home or enjoying an activity that’s more energetic.

“I’ll be showing how to make some simple adaptations to some well-known dishes that will both pack a punch in terms of taste, but will also offer a healthy and nutritious balanced approach to food in retirement that’s easy to achieve when you fancy cooking at home.”

McCarthy and Stone’s Retirement Living developments are designed to offer homeowners the very best in independent living within a safe and secure environment, with the opportunity to benefit from companionship when homeowners want it and privacy and assistance when they need it.

Facilities at Templars Court include an attractive homeowners’ lounge, beautifully landscaped gardens in which to relax and a convenient guest suite should homeowners have friends or relatives to stay. The development also benefits from its very own House Manager, who will ensure the smooth running of the development, a security entrance system, plus 24-hour emergency call points providing added peace of mind for homeowners and their families.
