McCarthy and Stone, the housebuilder behind the Elgar Place Retirement Living development in Maidenhead, has supported the local bowling community’s ‘Triangular Tournament’ with a £1,000 donation.

The tournament, which took place earlier this month, involved Maidenhead Town Bowls Club, Maidenhead Thicket Bowls Club and Desborough Bowls Club competing over 7 hours for top honours.  McCarthy and Stone’s £1,000 donation was put to good use as the prize fund – with amounts presented to the first, second and third place clubs – and it also helped towards catering costs for the prize ceremony.

McCarthy and Stone’s Sales Consultant, Tracey Hilton, presented President Stewart Wright at the Triangular Tournament with a cheque for £1,000.  She also enjoyed watching as Maidenhead Town outscored the competition to take first place, with Desborough taking second place, and Maidenhead Thicket placing third.

President Stewart Wright at the Triangular Tournament, said: “Financial assistance is hugely important to us if we wish to continue holding the annual tournament and so that we can offer a prize incentive to all those taking part. Donations such as this really help towards the running costs of the clubs involved and in turn, enable us to stay active in the bowling world.  We are very grateful to McCarthy and Stone for its support.”

Tracey Hilton, Sales Consultant for McCarthy and Stone, added: “As a company, we appreciate our responsibilities go further than building quality retirement apartments, and we also seek to create a positive legacy in the communities in which we build.

“The Triangular Tournament is a great example of a sporting and social activity that helps to foster companionship across the generations, so it was an absolute pleasure to provide a £1,000 donation. The team at McCarthy and Stone’s Elgar Place development wishes each club every success with their ongoing commitment to bringing bowls into the lives of local people.”
