McCarthy & Stone supports Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxon Wildlife Trust

06 November 2017

McCarthy and Stone has pledged its support to Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxon Wildlife Trust.  The UK’s leading retirement housebuilder and the force behind the new Crowthorne development, Birch Place, has donated £250 to the charity, as part of its ongoing commitment to make a positive contribution to the local community.

The Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust (BBOWT) was founded in 1959 by local ecologists who wanted to protect the rich natural environment of the three counties. It is one of 47 Wildlife Trusts working across the UK to achieve the shared aim of securing a better future for wildlife.

McCarthy and Stone’s £250 donation will support the conservation work on nature reserves within the area.

Richard Woods, Corporate Development Officer at the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxon Wildlife Trust, was visited by McCarthy and Stone’s Customer Relationship Manager, Debbie Wynn who presented a cheque for £250.  Mr Woods said: “The Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxon Wildlife Trust works tirelessly to protect the nature in these three counties, alongside maintaining Nature Reserves and running our Education Centres to show people the importance of conserving wildlife.

“We are all thankful to McCarthy and Stone for its generous donation, which will help BBOWT to conserve and enhance the beautiful environment in which we live and work”.

Georgina Akers, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone South East, added: “As a company we appreciate that our responsibilities go further than developing quality retirement properties - we also seek to create a positive legacy and make a difference in the communities in which we build.

“Our new Retirement Living Plus development in Crowthorne, Birch Place, was named and inspired by the Birch Trees in Crowthorne, surrounding the upcoming development. With this in mind, we wanted to continue our commitment to protecting the local environment, and so it is an absolute pleasure to present this donation to the trust and we wish the team every success with its ongoing efforts to conserve our local area.”

Located on Duke’s Ride, Birch Place is a Retirement Living Plus development which will comprise of 51 luxury one and two bedroom apartments, designed exclusively for the over 70’s. Construction is already under way on site, with the first apartments expected to be available to reserve off-plan in January 2018.

Future homeowners at Birch Place will benefit from tailored support packages – whether they require help with chores such as housework or laundry, or just an extra pair of hands.  A qualified team including an Estates Manager will also be available to help make life easier. A fully equipped bistro-style restaurant will provide freshly prepared meals daily if homeowners don’t wish to cook in their apartments.

More than nine out of ten customers would recommend McCarthy and Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 12 years’ running.  McCarthy and Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade, which is every year the awards have been run.
