McCarthy & Stone staff take to the skies and raise over £2,100 for Royal Voluntary Service

05 September 2017

McCarthy and Stone’s South West team took to the skies last week to take part in a sky dive and raised over £2,100 for older people’s charity, the Royal Voluntary Service.

Six staff members from the Taunton based McCarthy and Stone team faced their fears and with the help of Sky Buzz Ltd braced themselves for their first every sky dive on 6th September. The team descended from 14,000ft as colleagues and family provided enthusiastic support on the ground.

This special fundraising event is part of ongoing continue celebrations for the retirement housebuilder’s 40th anniversary. In 1977, McCarthy and Stone opened its very first retirement development, paving the way for the creation of an entirely new sector of the property market.

To honour this important milestone, the award-winning housebuilder has partnered with Royal Voluntary Service this year, with the aim of raising over £130,000 in support of projects across the South West and the rest of the country.  Since the beginning of the year, McCarthy and Stone developments across the South West have been busy hosting fundraising events such as Vintage Tea Parties and Summer Garden Parties, and staff are preparing for a gruelling 210 mile bike ride across the South West region later this month.

Simon Mantell, Regional Managing Director for McCarthy and Stone South West, said: “I would like to congratulate the McCarthy and Stone South West team for completing the sky dive, and thank everyone who sponsored them. The effort raised a fantastic amount for the Royal Voluntary Service. 40 years is an incredible achievement for us. We believe this is testimony to the quality and attention to detail that goes into the service we provide across all of our developments.”

McCarthy and Stone’s South West region currently has a portfolio of 17 developments selling or under construction. Due to its ongoing growth and expansion, it is gearing up to launch ten new developments next year. Each individual development will be carefully designed to suit the requirements of older people, offering homeowners the very best in independent living within a safe and secure environment.
