McCarthy & Stone seeks local charity to support in Blairgowrie

18 May 2017

Following the success of last year’s community charity appeal, award-winning retirement housebuilder, McCarthy and Stone, is once again looking for a local charity to support in and around Blairgowrie as its new Darroch Gate comes to life on Coupar Angus Road.

With a number of the Retirement Living apartments at Darroch Gate now released for sale, it’s a great opportunity for McCarthy and Stone to reaffirm its commitment to the local community by pledging to offer support to appropriate neighbourhood projects, charities, and one-off events in the area.

With community right at the heart of McCarthy and Stone, the company is interested to hear from local causes which require support in the form of a cash donation; and while it cannot guarantee funding in every case, it has vowed to help as many organisations in the Blairgowrie area as possible.

Community groups and local charities are urged to get in touch as soon as possible by emailing requests to mccarthyandstone@mccann.com. Entrants should outline the details of their project or charity and explain how a donation from McCarthy and Stone would assist their project.  There is a total fund of £1,400 available.  Please mark your emails ‘Blairgowrie Community Charity Appeal – 2017 ’ in the subject header.  Closing date for entries is 16 June, 2017.

Lorraine Paterson, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone in Scotland, said: “As our development in Blairgowrie continues to take shape and it becomes part of the local landscape, it is part of our ongoing commitment to help build a positive legacy in the local community.

“Last year three local charities shared £1,400 with the single largest donation of £600 awarded to Blairgowrie and Rattray in Bloom.  BOOKMARK (Blairgowrie, Rattray and The Glens Book Festival) secured a donation of £400, and a further £400 was awarded to BRAN – Blairgowrie and Rattray Access Network – an organization consisting of some 30 enthusiastic volunteers, which exists in order to maintain the local Core Path network.

“We’re really looking forward to hearing from some new local charities and initiatives this year that could use our help and support.”

Darroch Gate is an attractive development of 36 one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments and the facilities at the development include a stunning homeowners’ lounge ideal for catching-up with friends, landscaped gardens to enjoy the best of the Scottish weather and a convenient guest suite should homeowners have friends or relatives to stay.

The development also benefits from its very own House Manager, who ensures the smooth-running of the development, a security entrance system, plus 24-hour emergency call points for added peace-of-mind for both homeowners and their families.
