McCarthy & Stone reveals the name of Amesbury development

15 May 2014

McCarthy & Stone, the UK’s leading developer of retirement apartments, has revealed the name of its long awaited Retirement Living development in Amesbury with help from the Amesbury Society.

Construction is now underway of 33 one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments exclusively for over 60s in the area. McCarthy & Stone has chosen the name Queen Eleanor Court, after Queen Eleanor of Provence who was Queen Consort of England in the 13th century and is buried at the Abbey of St Mary and St Melor in Amesbury.

Jacqui Meenan, sales and marketing director for McCarthy & Stone, comments: “We pride ourselves on building communities and not just homes, so we always aim to select names for our new developments that will have real meaning to the local residents. As with all McCarthy & Stone developments, Queen Eleanor Court will offer independence combined with the peace of mind of additional security, low maintenance and companionship.

“With stylish designs tailored specifically for the over 60s and an attractive location with access to a range of everyday amenities – Queen Eleanor Court ticks all the boxes. I’d encourage prospective buyers to register their interest now to avoid disappointment.”

Bill Dunn, secretary of the Amesbury Society, added: “The society is delighted that McCarthy & Stone took our suggestions on board and has decided to name their new development Queen Eleanor Court. Queen Eleanor was the wife of King Henry 3rd, and the name has such local significance as she died and is buried in Amesbury."

Retirement Living with McCarthy & Stone offers security and independence with a House Manager to oversee the running of the development and security features fitted as standard including a CCTV door entry system and a 24 hour emergency call system. Excellent design is at the heart of all developments, offering spacious interiors, fitted kitchens and bathrooms plus other features including walk in wardrobes and walk out balconies in many of the apartments.
