McCarthy & Stone Puts Safety First by Sponsoring Local Lifeguards

The Seaford Lifeguards have said a huge thank you to McCarthy & Stone after they offered a helping hand by donating money to help train and run their important seafront operations in Seaford.

The developer, who is selling a range of Assisted Living apartments at Eversley Court on Dane Road, has given back to the community by offering £9,000 to the local group of volunteers who work throughout both the spring and summer seasons keep Seaford Bay free from danger.

Peter Gwilliam, Chairman of Seaford Lifeguards, said: “We’re delighted to have been beneficiaries of McCarthy & Stone’s generous donation. Being a voluntary organisation, every penny we receive makes a huge difference to us, so this money will certainly go a long way to strengthening our already world-class Lifeguard Service and training centre, which offers rescue and medical training across the UK.”

Seaford Lifeguards were established in 1970 providing a volunteer Lifeguard service on Seaford beach.  It launched the National Lifesaving Academy in January 2013.

Julie Ward, Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy & Stone, added: “At McCarthy & Stone we’re always keen to give back to the communities in which we build in, and the local lifeguards provide such a valuable service to the people of both this town on beyond, that we really felt it our duty to support the incredible work they do.

“Many of our existing homeowners at Eversley Court have already shown an interest in learning more about the lifesaving techniques the Lifeguards use, which will only help to make Seaford Bay a safer place to be. We are very proud that we have been able to play a part in building what we think will continue to be a very beneficial community partnership in the future.”
