McCarthy & Stone makes history with Droitwich School

McCarthy & Stone, the UK’s leading developer of retirement apartments, helped pupils from St Peter's Church of England First School make history last week when an official ceremony took place at Horton Mill Court in Droitwich to celebrate the burial of a time capsule designed by pupils.

To commemorate the developer’s charitable partnership with the Royal Voluntary Charity, which is in its 75th year, they set the pupils the challenge to compare life in 2013 to what they think life will be like in the future.

A collection of stories, drawings and photographs were carefully designed and chosen by the pupils to go inside the time capsule, which was then buried at Horton Mill Court on Thursday last week.

Tracey O'Keeffe-Pullan, head teacher at St Peter's Church of England First School, said: “The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the project and the whole class really got involved to make sure their memories were included for future generations to find. Not only had the project been fun and creative, it was also educational for the children too.”

Gill Sabin, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy & Stone, added: ““We are delighted with all the hard work shown by the pupils to ensure their school will be remembered exactly how they are experiencing it today.  The aim of the project was to create a snapshot in time for 2013 and the children came up with some really creative and inventive ideas.”

McCarthy & Stone is currently inviting over 70s to register their interest in the range of one and two bedroom Assisted Living apartments at Horton Mill Court in Droitwich Spa. The development offers the independence of retaining home ownership while living in an apartment specifically designed for the over 70s. In addition, it offers a helping hand through flexible care and support packages, including domestic assistance, that make life that little bit easier.

Facilities at Horton Mill Court will include a shared lounge, an on-site restaurant, guest suite, laundry room and a lift. A dedicated estate manager will ensure the smooth running of the development and staff will be on site 24 hours a day. There will also be a security entrance system plus 24-hour emergency call points to provide peace of mind for both homeowners’ and their families. All properties will be low maintenance and energy efficient.

In addition to offering age exclusive apartments, the retirement developer also provides a range of financial services, including a pension annuity service, equity release, legal services and guaranteed funeral plans.

Apartments are expected to be released for sale for purchase off plan in the New Year. Anyone wanting to find out more is invited to contact McCarthy & Stone now on 0800 201 4741 to register their interest.
