McCarthy & Stone donates £500 to local tea and chat community group

18 October 2017

McCarthy and Stone, builder of the new development on Shipston Road, has donated £500 to Tea and Chat, a local community group for older people in Stratford-upon-Avon

Run by volunteers and held every two weeks at the Rosebird Community Hall in Stratford, Tea and Chat is designed to bring people together who may feel isolated and lonely, and give them the opportunity to make new friends over a cup of tea and slice of cake.

Kate Rolfe, County Councillor for Stratford South, commented: “I set up Tea and Chat over three years ago as I was aware of many older people living in the community who didn’t get the opportunity to get out and enjoy the company of others very often.  For some of our members, our Tea and Chat groups are the only time they leave their homes as we provide transport for them.  The donation from McCarthy and Stone will ensure our transport costs are met for at least another year.

Martin Edwards, Deputy Regional Managing Director at McCarthy and Stone West Midlands, said: “We are delighted to support Tea and Chat. A tight-knit community and companionship are among the many benefits of living in a McCarthy and Stone development, and we are proud to support groups who share our values and are helping to make a difference to the lives of older people.

“The donation for Tea and Chat is an example of the many ways in which we can help to bring people together and we hope the group continues to go from strength to strength.”

McCarthy and Stone is behind the construction of a new Retirement Living Plus development on Shipston Road, which will comprise a stylish mix of 56 one and two bedroom privately-owned properties designed exclusively for the over 70s. Apartments will be available to buy off-plan in early 2018.

McCarthy and Stone are hosting an information day at the Rosebird Centre on Saturday 4th November from 10am until 4pm. The team are available to provide information on the McCarthy and Stone lifestyle, and offer advice on how to make downsizing even easier.

Facilities at the development will include an on-site restaurant, a homeowners’ lounge, landscaped gardens and a convenient guest suite. With staff on-site 24 hours, an Estates Manager to take care of the smooth-running of the development, security entrance systems and 24 hour emergency call points, the development will provide added peace-of-mind for homeowners and their families.

More than nine out of ten customers would recommend McCarthy and Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 12 years’ running.  McCarthy and Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 12 years, which is every year the awards have been run.
