Mayor of Taunton officially opens new retirement living development

19 September 2017

Local retirees joined the Mayor of Taunton Deane, Councillor Hazel Prior-Sankey, to celebrate the grand opening of McCarthy and Stone’s new Retirement Living development, Lock House in Taunton.

The Mayor of Taunton Deane joined retirees and their relatives at the new Retirement Living development in Keeper Close last week.

The grand opening followed a successful open day in July. The event was the first opportunity for local people to see the communal areas and landscaped gardens at Lock House, and to experience for themselves how a high quality, low maintenance apartment in a fabulous location could help them get the most out of their retirement.

The Mayor, Councillor Hazel Prior-Sankey, marked the grand opening by performing a ribbon-cutting ceremony with homeowners and staff. Guests were able to meet the on-site House Manager whilst enjoying a glass of fizz and light refreshments, while the helpful sales team were also on-hand to answer any questions, and to advise on how McCarthy and Stone can make moving to Lock House even easier.

The Mayor, Councillor Hazel Prior Sankey, comments: “It was my pleasure to mark the official opening of Lock House and to see for myself what a fantastic development it is. Living independently and securely is extremely important and, with a growing number of people reaching retirement age, I’m pleased to see developments such as this are being built to provide local retirees with a number of options to make the most out of their later years.”

Simon Mantell, Regional Managing Director for McCarthy and Stone South West, commented: “We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Taunton Deane and visitors to Lock House for the official grand opening. We had some fantastic feedback from attendees on the stunning show complex which perfectly highlights the modern designs and luxurious surroundings that will be enjoyed when we welcome our first homeowners to this highly exclusive Retirement Living development in Taunton.”

Exclusively designed for the over 60s, Lock House presents a collection of 45 one and two bedroom luxury apartments, priced from £201,000 and £303,995 respectively.

Lock House features a stunning homeowners’ lounge, ideal for socialising with friends, beautifully landscaped gardens in which to relax, and a convenient guest suite should homeowners have friends or relatives to stay. Another unique feature of Lock House is the Wellness Suite in which homeowners can enjoy a range of exercise and relaxation equipment. Lock House will also benefit from a House Manager, who will take care of the smooth running of the development, while a secure entrance system and 24-hour emergency call points will provide added peace of mind.

More than 90 percent of customers would recommend McCarthy and Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the maximum Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 12 years running.  It is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 12 years, which is every year since the awards have been running.
