Longridge retirees celebrate World Book Day with Barnacre Road Primary

08 March 2018

Pupils from Barnacre Road Primary School in Longridge visited McCarthy and Stone’s Burey Court Retirement Living development on Barnacre Road this week to celebrate World Book Day with the homeowners.

The Year 4 children dressed as their favourite book characters and performed spoken poetry to homeowners. After the performance, the children talked to the homeowners about their favourite stories from when they were younger, sharing classic tales across the generations. Homeowners Neil and Jean finished the day by reading stories to the class.

Sam Mosley, Year 4 Teacher at Barnacre Road Primary, said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed preparing and performing at Burey Court to celebrate World Book Day; and it was great to hear homeowners at the development sharing memories of their favourite books and reading habits with the class. We are grateful to McCarthy and Stone for inviting the class along, and we hope everyone at Burey Court had a lovely time and enjoyed our costumes!”

Fiona Brooks, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone, said: “We would like to extend our thanks to the children of Barnacre Road Primary School who not only made a huge effort to dress up for their visit to Burey Court, but also recited some fantastic poems. The day proved to be a fitting celebration of the enthusiasm which is clearly shared across the generations for literature.

“A tight-knit community and companionship are among the many benefits of living at a McCarthy and Stone development.  Local children taking part in World Book Day with our homeowners is a fantastic example of the sense of community spirit here at Burey Court, and we look forward to continuing to build on our relationship with Barnacre Primary School.”

Exclusively designed for those aged 60 and over, the collection of 33 apartments at Burey Court has attracted high levels of interest from local retirees; and, as a result, just three one-bedroom apartments are now remaining, priced from £149,999.

Facilities at Burey Court include a stunning homeowners’ lounge, ideal for socialising with friends or visiting family, beautiful landscaped gardens fully maintained by the experienced on-site team, and a convenient guest suite should homeowners have friends or relatives to stay. A dedicated House Manager takes care of the day-to-day running of the development; and a security entrance system and 24-hour emergency call points provide peace-of-mind.

More than nine out of ten customers would recommend McCarthy and Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 12 years’ running.  McCarthy and Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 12 years, which is every year the awards have been run.
