Local school plants the county's flowers at Williamson Court

11 May 2017

The UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, McCarthy and Stone, invited children from Bowerham Primary and Nursery School’s Council and Eco Council, to its latest Lancaster development, Williamson Court on Greaves Road to plant roses in the newly landscaped gardens.

The group of children from Years 3/4/5 from the school on Bowerham Road enjoyed learning about the history of the Lancaster Rose, while they helped to get the homeowners’ garden blooming for the summer months ahead at the Retirement Living PLUS (previously Assisted Living) development.

Adele Wilkinson, Year 3 Lead Teacher at Bowerham Primary and Nursery School, said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed their morning of gardening at Williamson Court and it was great to find out more about the history behind our County flower.  We are grateful to McCarthy and Stone for inviting us to the development and hope the homeowners will enjoy their lovely garden in the coming months.”

Regional Sales and Marketing Director at McCarthy and Stone North West, Fiona Brooks, said: “We would like to extend our thanks to the children of Bowerham Primary and Nursery School who displayed some excellent gardening skills during their visit to Williamson Court
