Local retirement housebuilder hosts official light switch on for 'Craney McCrane Face'

30 November 2017

McCarthy and Stone, the housebuilder behind the Rogerson Court Retirement Living development in Pocklington, hosted an official light switch on for their very well-known crane, ‘Craney McCrane Face’.

McCarthy and Stone became aware of the attention that ‘Craney McCrane Face’ was receiving on Facebook from the local community and felt that it was only fitting to give the ‘local ‘ an official light switch on and bring a little festive cheer to the construction site and the superb Pocklington skyline.

Geoff Sheasby, Pocklington Town Crier led the countdown to the light switch on, and Simon Hudson from Love Pocklington had the honour of turning on the switch and preceding over the event.

McCarthy and Stone representatives, Cate Palmer, Area and Sales Manager and Liz Green, Regional and Sales Director, also got into the festive spirit dressing up in Christmas elf and snowman costumes, and handing out goody bags and sweets to members of the public who turned out for the display.

Laura Wigglesworth, Senior Marketing Executive at McCarthy and Stone also took the opportunity to handover a £50 cheque to the Pocklington Town Mayor’s charity fund.

Laura Wigglesworth commented: “As a company, we appreciate that our responsibility is not only to build quality, purpose-built retirement properties, but also to create a positive legacy in the communities in which we build. We wanted to spread the Christmas cheer to Pocklington by adding lights to ‘Craney McCrane Face’. The crane has become somewhat of a local celebrity in the area having graced the Pocklington skyline for several months, so we thought it would be great to have a little fun with the Pocklington community and thank them for all their support. We especially want to thank Simon and the organisers at Love Pocklington who helped make this event happen.

“It’s also our pleasure to handover a cheque for £50 to the Pocklington Town Mayor’s fund which is such a worthy cause.”

Rogerson Court, which is currently under construction, is already proving popular amongst local retirees with its central market town location and impressive facilities. The development will consist of 34 one and two bedroom apartments, alongside beautiful landscaped gardens and convenient on-site parking.

Aimed exclusively at people aged 60 and over, the development provides luxury retirement living free from external maintenance, and allows homeowners to enjoy an independent lifestyle in a safe and secure environment. The development will feature a stunning homeowners’ lounge ideal for socialising with friends and a convenient guest suite should homeowners have friends or family to stay.

The development will also benefit from its very own House Manager, who will take care of the smooth-running of the development; while video entry and a 24-hour emergency call system will provide added peace-of-mind for homeowners.

Apartments at Rogerson Court will be available to buy off plan in early 2018, with first occupations expected in summer 2018.
