Local Retirees Enjoy Cream Tea and Stunning Views at Lock House Retirement Development

05 June 2019

Taunton retirees recently had the chance to view the latest in retirement living, when McCarthy and Stone hosted a special Cream Tea Open Day at its Lock House Retirement Living development on Keeper Close last week.

As well as a complimentary cream tea served in the homeowners’ lounge, the event provided local people with the opportunity to take a closer look at Lock House, which has been designed exclusively for those aged 60 and over.

Guests were also invited to speak to current homeowners and to meet the friendly McCarthy and Stone team – including House Manager, Sue Atkinson, who takes care of the day-to-day running of the development.

Comprising a selection of 45 one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments, Lock House provides everything homeowners could want for an active and fulfilled retirement.  The development even has a gym and a communal rooftop terrace provides panoramic views of the Quantocks, the Black Down Hills and over the River Tone and surrounding Firepool area.

Ciara Hilley, Divisional Marketing Manager at McCarthy and Stone, said: “It was great to see so many guests at our recent cream tea open day at Lock House.  We love inviting local retirees to the development so they can really get a feel for what life is like here.  As well as being situated in one of the picturesque parts of the country, one of the features of Lock House is our fabulous rooftop terrace with its South-facing sun deck – it really does provide the perfect location for relaxing with friends and new neighbours.

“We were very pleased to showcase Lock House and to demonstrate what a thriving new community there is at the development at the recent open day.”

Lock House features a shared lounge and homeowners can also make the most of the beautiful landscaped gardens knowing all the maintenance is taken care of.  They can also feel secure in the knowledge that the House Manager is on hand to provide any help or support should they need it.

Situated less than a mile from Taunton city centre and Somerset County Cricket ground, Lock House homeowners will find a bus stop half a kilometre from the development, and a supermarket, pharmacy, Post Office and doctor’s surgery are all nearby.

Prices at Lock House currently start from £236,500 for a one bedroom apartment and from £299,995 for a two bedroom apartment.
