Local Budding Young Artists Awarded at McCarthy & Stone

07 June 2019

The work of budding young artists from Holy Trinity Catholic School in Chipping Norton has been celebrated in an art competition run by leading retirement housebuilder, McCarthy and Stone.

Hosted by McCarthy and Stone’s Watson Place development on Trinity Road, the competition invited entries from all ages at the local school with a number of prizes up for grabs.  After a fantastic selection of submissions capturing local landmarks, the team at Watson Place had the difficult task of selecting the top three pieces of artwork, with Isla, Year 6, Sienna, Year 2, and Beatrix, Year 1, being awarded first, second and third prizes respectively.

Each winner received a Hobby Craft voucher to further encourage their art skills and the school also received a donation of £250 towards the school’s art department to fund equipment and materials.

Mrs Buchanan, head teacher of Holy Trinity Catholic School, commented: “We were delighted to work in partnership with McCarthy and Stone to celebrate and encourage our young artists, and are extremely grateful to the team at Watson Place for this kind donation.

“We have a strong ethos of developing the creative arts and it is great to be able to work with companies such as McCarthy and Stone to help recognise the importance of these creative skills.”

Clare Bright, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone West Midlands, said: “We are delighted to have worked with Holy Trinity Catholic School on this project.  The team had a very tough job selecting just three winners; the quality of the work was fantastic and we’d like to thank all those who took part for not only being involved in this exciting competition, but also for visiting us at Watson Place to celebrate their achievements and showcase their work.

“A tight-knit community and companionship are among the many benefits of living at a McCarthy and Stone development and building strong community links is important to us and our homeowners.

“Projects such as this at Watson Place, which see us working with local schools is a fantastic example of this and we’re hoping many more will visit us to see their works during the exhibition on 21st May 2019.”
