McCarthy and Stone, the housebuilder behind the new Retirement Living Plus development The Dairy in Royal Tunbridge Wells, has shown its support for Grove Bowling Club and Culverden Bowling Club by making a £250 donation to each.

Both lawn bowls clubs have a mix of social, casual, experienced and competitive members, and welcome new players at any level; many of their members participate in men’s, ladies and mixed league matches, as well as ‘roll-ups’ and club drives. Founded in 1909, Grove Bowling Club is based on Norfolk Road near Tunbridge Wells High Street; while Culverden Bowling Club is situated on Beltring Road.

McCarthy and Stone Area Sales Manager, Debbie Wynn, presented Brian Grundy, Board Member at Grove Bowling Club and Trevor Verrall, Secretary at Culverden Bowling Club each with a cheque for £250. Grove Bowling Club will be putting the funds towards clubhouse improvements and Culverden Bowling Club will be investing in new equipment.

Brian Grundy, Board Member at Grove Bowling Club said: “As a club, we very much appreciate sponsorship, and financial assistance is hugely important to us to continue with ongoing tournaments and challenges. We are very grateful to McCarthy and Stone for its generous donation.”

Trevor Verrall, Secretary at Culverden Bowling Club said: “Donations such as this from local businesses are essential to securing the continued development of the club, and we look forward to growing our relationship with McCarthy and Stone in the future.”

McCarthy and Stone Area Sales Manager, Debbie Wynn, said: “As a company, we appreciate our responsibilities go further than building quality retirement apartments, and we also seek to create a positive legacy in the communities in which we build.

“Grove Bowling Club and Culverden Bowling Club both recognise the importance of participating in sporting and social activities, and fostering companionship across the generations, so it was an absolute pleasure to present these donations. We wish them both every success for the future.”
