After Mary had experienced a fall at home, her daughters Julie and Tracey wanted to ensure their mother could maintain her independence in safe surroundings – in a community of like-minded retirees, where bespoke support and care was available when needed. This was set to be more than just a downsizing move – they were looking for a sense of reassurance for all the family.
Commenting on her move to Lambrook Court, Mary said: “My daughter, Julie, lives in Bath and it was important for me to stay close to her. It was a big move, but I am enjoying living at Lambrook Court.
“There is a great community and plenty of different activities to get involved in, such as coffee mornings in the social lounge, film nights on a Friday and even exercise classes - there’s always something to join in with. I really like that, by having your own apartment, you can choose when you want to spend time with others and be part of activities – and when you want time to yourself.
“All of the staff at Lambrook Court are marvellous, I really couldn’t fault them. Our Estates Manager is very helpful, kind and I know she is available to help me if I ever need it. It’s very friendly and has a nice atmosphere. I certainly feel well looked after.”
Mary decided at 91 years of age that she no longer wants to cook for herself, and so the on-site bistro is perfect for her to enjoy a range of different foods, without lifting a finger!
“There are several of us who dine at the bistro every day,” Mary explained. “This is great as there is always someone to sit and eat with and we’ve got to know each other well.”
It was just as important for Mary’s daughters that their mother’s new apartment was close to where Mary’s oldest daughter, Julie lives. Commenting on her mother’s move to the McCarthy Stone development, Julie said: “Life has changed for Mum since she joined the community at Lambrook Court. She has become much more independent and has noticeably gained in confidence, which is fantastic. There is someone on site round the clock, which gives me peace-of-mind that she is in a safe environment.”
Comprising a selection of one and two bedroom Retirement Living Plus apartments, exclusively for people aged 70 and over, Lambrook Court offers retirees the opportunity to maintain an independent lifestyle, while also having access to tailored domestic and personal assistance packages to help them manage their day-to-day lives – and with an on-site bistro-style restaurant serving freshly prepared meals daily.
Homeowners can make the most of the beautiful landscaped gardens, knowing all the maintenance is taken care of. They can also feel secure in the knowledge that the Estates Manager is on hand to provide any help or support should they need it; and that friends and family can stay over whenever they choose in the development’s comfortable guest suite.
Nicki Beswarick, Marketing Manager for McCarthy Stone Southern, said: “We are dedicated to making homeowners feel as comfortable as possible in our developments, so it’s incredibly rewarding to hear how Mary Jones is enjoying life at Lambrook Court.
“Retirement Living Plus is perfect for those who want to enjoy an independent lifestyle, while also having access to domestic support and assistance packages should they require a helping hand – either now or in the future. As well as removing the day-to-day stresses of looking after a home, this option also gives families reassurance that their loved ones are in a safe and vibrant community.”
