Lady Mary Peters Celebrates with Retirees in Market Harborough

9th January 2020

Olympic Golden Girl, Lady Mary Peters, was joined by local retirees for the grand opening of McCarthy and Stone’s latest Market Harborough development, Elizabeth Place.

Lady Mary Peters, who is best known for winning a gold medal in the pentathlon at the Munich Olympics, visited the Retirement Living development on Trimbush Way to share the story of her life from Olympian to becoming a national treasure.

Mary commented: “It was a pleasure to visit Elizabeth Place and give a talk on my colourful career. The development provides an excellent solution for all those looking to enjoy an independent and active lifestyle in retirement, and I enjoyed meeting and chatting to residents. It’s clear everyone values the quality of life afforded by their surroundings and the freedom of having a range of services on their doorstep.”

Samantha Watkins, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone, commented: “We are delighted so many Market Harborough retirees and their families joined us for the grand opening of Elizabeth Place, and we are very grateful to Lady Mary Peters for making it a day to remember!

“As well as having the opportunity to meet Lady Mary and to hear about her wonderful career, visitors were able to take a closer look at Elizabeth Place and find out more about the quality of life on offer at a McCarthy and Stone development.”

Comprising a selection of 58 one and two-bedroom Retirement Living Plus apartments, exclusively designed for people aged 70 and over, Elizabeth Place offers retirees the opportunity to maintain an independent lifestyle, while also having access to tailored domestic and personal assistance packages– and with an on-site bistro-style restaurant serving freshly prepared meals daily.

Facilities at Elizabeth Place include a stylish communal lounge, ideal for socialising; beautiful landscaped gardens in which to relax; and a guest suite, which provides a comfortable stay for visiting family and friends.  Designed to provide complete peace-of-mind, there is an Estates team on-hand around the clock, along with a security entrance system and 24-hour emergency call points.

Located just one mile from Market Harborough town centre, residents at Elizabeth Place benefit from easy access to local amenities such as a bank, pharmacy, post office and independent cafes and restaurants. The development is also ideally situated close to public transport links, which connect the development to the high street in five minutes.
