Just the job: investing in the future in Wymondham

21 February 2018

When it comes to supporting local tradespeople and businesses, the UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, McCarthy and Stone, is leading the way, having employed a team of local contractors, labourers and security to deliver its new Lifestyle Living development in Wymondham.

Situated on Sutton Drive in Wymondham, Sutton Gardens is a private-gated development which will eventually comprise a highly-exclusive collection of just 30 two and three bedroom freehold properties, designed for the over 55s.

Since construction began, a total of 15 jobs have been created for local tradespeople. It is estimated that, as the site continues to progress further, jobs in areas such as plumbing, electrics, dry lining, painting and decorating will follow.

Glen Waine, Site Manager for Sutton Gardens, commented: “McCarthy and Stone’s commitment to sourcing its tradespeople from the local work pool has already provided a welcome boost for the Wymondham community; and, as the build programme continues, we will be looking to recruit even more skilled workers from the surrounding areas. I also have the pleasure of working with my son Reece Waine, he completed an apprenticeship in carpentry towards the end of last year and is now part of the McCarthy and Stone team.

“As a leading housebuilder, we invest in quality design and building delivery – together with careful attention to detail and consideration to providing the very best customer service – and this adds-up to a winning formula. Each and every one of the employees involved in this development, from the construction teams laying bricks on site to the sales teams in the office, plays an active role in turning the McCarthy and Stone vision into reality.”

Each individual property at Sutton Gardens includes a private garage or parking, as well as peaceful outside space such as a separate patio or garden.  Future homeowners will enjoy exclusive, year-round access to The Orangery, a lavishly furnished space overlooking a central courtyard; and they will also be able to relax in the beautiful landscaped gardens.  A General Manager will be on hand five days a week to take care of the smooth running of the development. Properties are now available to buy off-plan, with first occupations expected in late May.

Cheryl Bissett, Regional Sales and Marketing Director at McCarthy and Stone East Midlands, said: “McCarthy and Stone is committed to designing stylish low-maintenance homes; and each individual property at Sutton Gardens has been thoughtfully designed to provide exceptional high-end luxury.  This development represents a highly unique proposition for the Wymondham market, and we are looking forward to introducing the discerning over 55s to this exclusive concept.”

More than nine out of ten customers would recommend McCarthy and Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 12 years’ running.  McCarthy and Stone is the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 12 years, which is every year the awards have been run.
