Just the job: investing in the future in Nottingham

10 May 2017

When it comes to supporting local tradespeople and businesses, the UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, McCarthy and Stone, is truly leading the way, having employed a team of local contractors, labourers and security to deliver its new Carpenter Court development in Stapleford.

McCarthy and Stone has invested heavily in the local workforce to deliver its latest development on Hickings Lane, which will comprise a selection of one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments for the over 60’s.

Since construction began, the development has created around 15 jobs for local brick layers and labourers; and it is estimated that, as the site continues to progress further, jobs in areas such as plumbing, electrics, dry lining, painting and decorating will follow.

John Causer, Site Manager at Carpenter Court, commented: “McCarthy and Stone’s commitment to sourcing its tradespeople from the local work pool provides a welcome boost for the Stapleford community. The importance of employing local workforces cannot be underestimated and, as the build programme continues, we will be looking to recruit even more skilled tradespeople from the surrounding area.

“As a leading housebuilder, we invest in quality design and building delivery. This approach – together with careful attention to detail and consideration to providing the very best customer service – add-up to a winning formula. Each and every one of the employees involved in Carpenter Court, from the construction teams laying bricks on site to the sales teams in the office, plays an active role in turning the McCarthy and Stone vision into reality.”

The apartments at Carpenter Court will be available to buy off plan September 2017, with first occupations expected in 2018.

Cheryl Bissett, Regional Sales and Marketing Director at McCarthy and Stone East Midlands, said: “At McCarthy and Stone we’re committed to helping older people stay independent for longer while living in a secure, low maintenance apartment with support on hand if required. We are confident that by investing in high quality local talent and skilled tradesmen, we will continue to deliver stunning developments which can be held up as an example of the kind of accommodation older generations truly deserve.”

Facilities at the development will include a stunning homeowners’ lounge ideal for socialising with friends, beautifully landscaped gardens, an on-site car park, and a convenient guest suite should homeowners have friends or relatives to stay. The development will also benefit from its very own House Manager, who will take care of the smooth-running of the development; while a security entrance system and 24-hour emergency call points will provide added peace of mind for homeowners.

McCarthy and Stone’s new Stapleford development is sat directly on the border between Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire with easy access to amenities, including a supermarket, chemist, bakery and a doctor’s surgery. Those wishing to travel further afield will benefit from excellent transport links to both Derby and Nottingham.
