Historic links inspire new Sheringham development

20 October 2017

The UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, McCarthy and Stone, has announced the launch of its new Retirement Living development on South Street, Sheringham, which has been named after the former family run Beaumaris Hotel.

The Beaumaris Hotel on South Street was founded by Rose Lee and her daughter Mary Turner. The hotel first opened its doors in 1947 and was eventually passed down the family tree to Hilary Stevens and her husband Alan in 1991. Over the 68 years, the hotel was a fixture in Sheringham’s tourist trade, welcoming visitors, locals and celebrities. Taking its inspiration from such a renowned historical building, McCarthy and Stone’s new Sheringham development has been named Beaumaris Court

Cheryl Bissett, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for East Midlands, said: “We wanted to choose a name for our new development that was memorable, and would resonate with both Sheringham residents and future McCarthy and Stone homeowners. Our chosen name, Beaumaris Court, will serve as a celebration of the former hotel – a topic that future homeowners will be extremely interested in.

“With the first release of one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments at Beaumaris Court so highly anticipated, we will look to open an off-site marketing suite within the area. Local retirees interested in securing a high specification, low maintenance home are encouraged to come along and make the most of their first opportunity to reserve off-plan at this stunning new development.”

Hilary Stevens comments: “We are delighted that the new development is to be called ‘Beaumaris Court’ as the hotel had been owned by my family for three generations since 1947. The name will be recognised both locally and further afield, and it is great to see the name ‘Beaumaris’ being carried forward into the future.

“We had so many happy years in the hotel and are sure that the owners of the new flats will enjoy living in such a perfect location.”

Beaumaris Court will provide privately-owned luxury accommodation for those aged 60 and over in Sheringham.  Facilities at the development will include a stunning homeowners’ lounge ideal for socialising with friends, beautifully landscaped gardens, an on-site car park, and a convenient guest suite should friends or relatives wish to stay. Beaumaris Court will also benefit from its very own House Manager, who will take care of the smooth-running of the development; while a security entrance system and 24-hour emergency call points will provide added peace of mind for homeowners.

Due to begin construction in October, an artist’s impression has been released to show how Beaumaris Court will look when completed. Located in the town of Sheringham, the development will provide 30 contemporary age-exclusive one and two bedroom apartments, professionally-designed to offer space and luxury. Beaumaris Court is ideally situated for easy access to all local amenities in Sheringham and public transport links to locations further afield.
