Scotland - Helping the Over 70s Get Moving in Giffnock

24 July 2012

Moving to any new home in later life can be a daunting experience, which is why McCarthy & Stone is holding a special Information Day, exclusively for the over 70s, to chat through the benefits of Assisted Living at its new Hilltree Court development – the first of the company’s Assisted Living developments due to open soon in Giffnock.

The event, which is taking place on Tuesday 7th August, 2012 at the Parklands Country Club on Ayr Road, Newton Mearns, will offer informative presentations at 11am and 2pm on life at Hilltree Court.  It is also an opportunity for buyers to book an appointment with a Professional Advisor to find out more about McCarthy & Stone’s Moving Experience service, as well as view the development plans and prices.

McCarthy & Stone’s Moving Experience is a unique service that allows potential buyers to make a stress-free move into later living.  As well as support throughout the buying process, Moving Experience offers a whole host of benefits including estate agent fees and solicitors’ fees all paid.  And to ensure move-in day goes smoothly the de-cluttering and removal service, which includes packing and unpacking, is a welcome feature.  There’s also advice and inspiration on interiors with options available for carpets, curtains and furniture from our suppliers.

Moving Experience also includes a handyman service for those odd jobs around the house, and a free and confidential financial health-check from our benefits advisor.  Plus, we’ll also notify all relevant organisations to ensure changing your address, utilities and final meter readings are all handled for you.  Plus we’ll give you a set of ‘moving home cards’ so you can let friends and family know your new address.

Suzanne McElhiney, marketing manager for McCarthy & Stone in Scotland, comments:

“Moving house is stressful at any time of life but even more so as you get older.  It is important to have as much information as possible at your fingertips to ensure you make the right decision for you.

“Our Information Day will offer buyers a balance of details on both the development, and the features of our helpful Moving Experience service that shows just how easily we can get our buyers on the move!."

Available exclusively for those over the age of 70, the new Assisted Living development in Giffnock will offer a range of one and two bedroom apartments complete with communal facilities and support services for residents when they need them, either now or in the future; all in a safe and secure environment that offers peace of mind and continued independence in a property they continue to own.

Suzanne McElhiney, marketing manager for McCarthy & Stone in Scotland, adds: “ We anticipate that our Assisted Living apartments at Hilltree Court in Giffnock will be hugely popular because we can not only offer extra day-to-day assistance to those who need it, the easily maintained apartments will be ideal for those who are finding the upkeep of their existing home too much work. All of our apartments are designed with additional features to allow retirees to retain their independence for longer and importantly, enjoy continued home ownership.”

The Assisted Living development in Giffnock will benefit from a 24 hour emergency call system, staff on site at all times, a guest suite, residents’ lounge and an on-site waitress service restaurant. One hour of domestic service is provided each week as part of the service charge and personal care can be arranged on a short or long term basis. The level of care provided is flexible to meet the changing needs of residents and, unlike a residential care home, individuals only pay for the care they receive.
