McCarthy and Stone, the housebuilder behind the new Albert Court  Retirement Living Plus development in Henley-On-Thames, has given Harpsden Cricket Club a welcome boost with a £500 donation.

Based in the Harpsden Valley, on the outskirts of Henley-On-Thames, Harpsden Cricket Club welcomes members aged from five upwards to play cricket in a both a friendly and competitive environment. The club, which has celebrated more than 130 years of cricket, plays approximately 50 games per season, and has two teams in the Morrant Chilterns League.

McCarthy and Stone’s Customer Relationship Manager, Debbie Wynn, presented Club President, Julian Burtt, and Committee Member, Jane Burtt, with a cheque for £500, which will contribute towards the provision of junior cricket equipment.

Julian Burtt said: “As a club, that is over 130 years old, we value our place within the Henley-on-Thames community and very much appreciate sponsorship and support from local businesses. This kind donation from McCarthy and Stone will help towards the cost of purchasing junior cricket equipment, helping to bring generations together through sporting activities.”

Debbie Wynn added: “As a company, we appreciate our responsibilities go further than building quality retirement apartments, and we also seek to create a positive legacy in the communities in which we build.

“Harpsden Cricket Club recognises the importance of encouraging participation in sporting and social activities, and fostering companionship across the generations, so it was an absolute pleasure to present this donation.  The team at McCarthy and Stone wishes the club every success in 2018 and beyond.”

McCarthy and Stone’s Retirement Living Plus developments are designed exclusively for the over 70s. They offer retirees the opportunity to maintain an independent lifestyle, while also having access to tailored domestic and personal assistance packages to help them manage their day-to-day lives – and with an on-site restaurant providing freshly cooked meals.

Apartments at Albert Court, which is currently under construction on Reading Road, will be available to reserve off plan in March 2018 with first occupants expected in Summer 2018.

Once complete, the development will feature a stylish collection of 54 privately-owned one and two bedroom Retirement Living Plus apartments. Facilities at Albert Court will include a Club lounge and bistro restaurant, ideal for socialising with friends, beautifully landscaped gardens in which to relax, and a convenient guest suite should homeowners have friends or relatives to stay.

The development will also benefit from its very own Estates Management team on-site 24 hours a day; while a security entrance system and emergency call points will provide added peace-of-mind for homeowners and their families.
